Ziele und Inhalte
The diploma practical training marks the culmination of the vocational training for English teachers at the upper secondary level. During the practical training, students demonstrate that they possess the necessary job-specific competencies, which they have developed and enhanced during the preliminary and professional practical trainings. These competencies include lesson planning, reflective practice, designing action- and content-oriented lessons that are also competency-based and motivating, relationship and organizational skills, stress management, and professional ethical competence.
The diploma practical training in English teaching at the upper secondary level is awarded 4 ECTS credits. The practical training is conducted at a Maturity school (Gymnasium, FMS, BMS) and includes 18 individual lessons, of which students may observe a maximum of 2-4 lessons. Students are eligible for the diploma practical training only after successfully completing all other modules of the vocational training program.

Additional Information on the Diploma Lesson:
The planning and execution of the diploma examination lesson is an integral part of the diploma practical training.
Students present and discuss their reflection on the conducted examination lesson in a colloquium (approximately
45 - 60 minutes) that takes place immediately after the examination lesson and is part of the diploma examination.
No later than two working days before the diploma examination lesson, students must submit a planning portfolio to
the responsible subject didactics lecturer and the practice teacher, which includes the following elements:-A professional presentation of the topics (subject analysis at both content and language levels).-A justification for the topics chosen for the lesson unit.-An outline plan of the lesson unit.-Evaluation Form from previous practical trainings-Three detailed lesson plans: one for the diploma lesson and the others for the lessons immediately before and after
it, including didactic commentary and learning materials.
The evaluation of the examination lesson is based on three components, each awarded a corresponding number of
points:
Dossier, maximum of 12 points.
Lesson execution, maximum of 24 points.
Colloquium: reflection and evaluation of the lesson, maximum of 12 points.
Students pass the diploma examination lesson if they achieve at least 60% of the total possible points
