Ziele und Inhalte

"Open Forms of Teaching" explores open teaching methods and extracurricular learning opportunities. These
strategies enable students to develop their English skills independently and manage their learning processes more
effectively. The curriculum emphasizes organizing subject-oriented units, such as project days or project weeks,
extending learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. Additionally, the course highlights the importance of
continual professional development for educators and the adoption of digital teaching methods.
Course Aims
The learning objectives of this course are designed to equip students with the skills to:
-Enhance Teaching Methods: Adopt and expand teaching methods to foster learner autonomy through projects and
virtual learning environments.
-Utilize Extracurricular Activities: Implement extracurricular activities to enhance individual language usage.
-Implement Virtual Learning Environments: Evaluate and deploy virtual learning environments to facilitate enhanced
educational experiences.
-Reflective Teaching Practices: Engage in reflective teaching by analyzing and evaluating instructional sequences
to improve teaching effectiveness.
-Integrate Technology Effectively: Understand and apply technology in teaching to maximize learning outcomes,
focusing on its practical applications in the classroom.
With reference to the "Referenzrahmen" of the PH Luzern, the module prepares students for the following
"Handlungsfelder" (Skillset):
D Providing learning opportunities
E Accompanying and assessing the learning process of the students
The module also serves to develop the following professional competences:
01 Lesson planning skills
02 Competence to design a competence-oriented, understanding-oriented and motivating lessons
04 Diagnosis and assessment competence
07 Organizational competence

Form des Leistungsnachweises

Students are expected to engage in a variety of activities and assignments designed to deepen their understanding
and application of the topics discussed.

1.Reading Assignments:
oStudents must read specific materials assigned for each class session. These readings cover various topics related
to open forms of teaching and learning, historical methodologies, and modern digital approaches.

2.Active Participation:
oActive participation in individual and group activities during class is required. This includes contributing to
discussions and engaging with the course materials in a meaningful way.

3.Presentation:
oStudents do a presentation on a given topic. Each presentation is designed to explore different aspects of teaching
and learning, such as evaluating teaching methods, designing learning materials, and analyzing educational
technologies.

oThey generate a solid handout with a) theoretical references, b) two fully developed teaching ideas, c) 5 possible
teaching ideas, and submit 1 handout as it can used in class.
