Ziele und Inhalte
In the practical studies leading to the teaching diploma for secondary schools in English, students develop professional competencies for teaching English and prepare for a successful career entry. They become familiar with the subject-specific requirements for planning, implementing, and evaluating English lessons, enabling them to effectively and responsibly address these challenges.
Based on their subject-matter and didactic knowledge, and in accordance with current curricula, students can create purposeful and engaging learning opportunities that promote the development of students' competencies in English. They can consider learners' prerequisites and adequately assess and support their learning processes.
The practical studies offer the chance to convey one's own enthusiasm and interest in the subject. Relationship building plays a central role in this process. Students can responsibly establish connections with individual students and the class, communicating openly and transparently. They can also demonstrate appreciation towards mentor teachers and other professionals within the school.
Moreover, students can plan and coordinate the diverse organizational tasks of an English teacher. The practical studies provide a learning environment in which students can reflect on their teaching based on practical experiences and further develop it in collaboration with their mentor teacher and supported by subject-matter and didactic knowledge.
In dealing with the complexity of daily tasks, students can assess their own resources and abilities and manage stressful situations.
