There’s enough nonsense in education and there is certainly a place for cute and silly clips and stories, yet a teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide their learners with rich, meaningful prompts that provoke thought and encourage steps towards an open, tolerant society. Thus, this workshop will work through a tried-out selection of meaningful music videos, clips, and ads that are appropriate for primary school and secondary learners using language-focused techniques for working with these prompts that promote basic communicative competencies in a typical classroom setting, and where the content should act as a spring-board for deeper discussions in the local language. |
